Photographer's Note

Day 10 - On our visit to the weaver's cooperative in Chinchero we have our guided explained us about the local plants the local weavers use traditionally to dye the wool. With the Cochinilla they extract the red color and adding salt and lime juice or urine thay can turn it into blue. With the Aguaypilli they obtain the purple colors, the Kisa Cuchy the green (we can see on the back), the Chilca another kind of green, the Qaqasunka the orange and from the Q'olle (the one in the center of this picture) they extract the yellow.

I used the mode portrait of my camera; I wanted to have the hands in movement. On the WS you can see all the plants she was showing us and the variety of colors they can obtain in the process. I'll be showing the dyeing process tomorrow.

It would be an interesting caputre if the hand wasn't so akwardly positioned. It is a good idea to include hands in such captures but without reading the note this picture doesn't have the capability of 'standing on its own feet'.

t's all about personal opinions, of course - and no right and wrong. But i disagree with Joanna. I think explanatory note are important and can complement unusual images - set the scene if you like.

The blur of the hand works for me, my only issue of the overexposure. But that aside well composed, interesting scene - and a good note!

Outra bela foto de trabalhos manuais. Gosto muito disso. As cores estăo ótimas, eu talvez teria usado uma velocidade um pouco maior, sei que queria o efeito de movimento, mas acho que a foto como um todo ficou um pouco desfocada. Mas uma bela composiçăo mesmo assim.

Hola Flavia, me encanto esta foto, pero la critica negativa de Drzoana no tiene fundamento, es mas la mano le da mejor situacion a la imagen, es complemento y apoyo de la fotografia, mas cuando las manos significan muchas cosas en terminos de trabajo, sentimentales, etc, la imagen sin la mano tiene mucho menos valor y menos peso que con ella, la mano representa que la captura es mas comlicada aun.Felicitaciones por la captura.Saludos
