Photographer's Note
Hello friends in TE,
Try answering the following questions:
# Why the Moon always shows the same face to the Earth.
# Why the Moon's rotation period is the same as the length of time it takes to orbit the Earth (same as number 1, but phrased differently).
# Why there are two tides a day.
# Why the Earth's rotation rate is slowing.
It has something to do with moon. This one was captured on the evening of 20th Jan 2008 before sunset. It is a waxing gibbous @ 94% full moon. The blue cloudless sky reflected by the evening sun allowed me to take this moon picture hand-held above the rain tree. Now, I can call that my moon.

Jusni

Hi Jusni
IMO you chose a very good moment to shoot this moon, due to light condition, the exposure allows you to have your aperture at f/5.6 (limited by your 300mm lens setting), 1/500s at ISO400, which looks great for handheld.
Clarity and sharpness is good.
The DOF is nicely done with the FG branches.
If this is at night, it is not likely to get such exposure and a tripod will be necessary, no blue sky and contrast may vary slightly.
Great work, Jusni and thanks for sharing it.

Hello Jusni,
This image look very sharp for a handheld. I do like the placement of the moon in relation to the out of focus leaves. Very good composition with good contrast and colours. I have tried taking images of the moon but they are never this good. Thanks :-)

Hello Jusni,
I have already tried to take photo from the moon and I know it is not so easy. On this photo, it is good for both the focusing and the exposure.
I think it was a good idea to include in the frame a part of the tree in order to translate the opposition between the life on Earth and the far and sky object which is the moon.

Hi Jusni,
Very interesting composition with the moon but more interesting leaving some leaves in the frame. The blueish sky works wonderful here, i like this much better than a pitch black one...really great work here in a very good exposure.

Hi Jusni, you don't need a great depth of field for a moon shot, and a fast shutter speed makes sense (to minimize camera shake, plus so as to not over expose the moon). A lot of people are surprised I think when you take a faster speed shot of the moon, yet here is one topography that is fully exposed to the sun, same as if it was shot on earth in mid day. What is different about this shot of yours is the inclusion of those leaves, and that fantastic blue sky. The leaves aren't in focus of course, but they sure complement the shot. Now this becomes one I need to try for myself.
Thanks, John

Hello Jusni
Believe me, I would dream to take a picture of the moon like this, but so far I've been unsuccessful. Very well framed with the OOF leaves & the moon is placed very well. The blue hour sky helps build a very nice contrast with the moon. Well done!

Hello Jusni,
Thanks for this shot of the near full moon. I like how the branches add interest to the frame as often the moon is placed by itself and there is a lot of wasted space inside the frame. I like also that the sky is a blue colour instead of the usual pitch-black. This is a very sharp capture, the moon is a difficult object to capture at times but this has worked perfectly for you. The 1/500 is very quick considering the subject - I would have chosen a longer shutter but this may have overexposed or blurred the moon as it is in motion. Well done and thanks for posting.

Jusni,
Well done, especially for an off-hand shot. The details are crisp and clear. I've tried a few pictures of the moon, but my lense only goes to 55mm. Did you take any photos of the lunar eclipse last night (I don't know if it was visible where you were)? I meant to go and see it, but I forgot about it because I had a group meeting last night - pity. I like how the leaves add a little bit of depth to the color of the shot. I also like how you've framed the moon in the space between the two branches jutting out.

Hello Jusni,
It is interesting that you commented on my waning gibbous Moon and you have a waxing gibbous Moon. Our Moon is indeed a fascinating neighbor and it always amazes me that it is the same apparent size from earth and it is the perfect size to block out the Sun for a solar eclipse. What are the odds of this? You have a beautiful photograph of our fair neighbor and your framing with the trees is superb! Your notes are very interesting as well. Excellent photography!

Hi Jusni, you have a great moon shot too. The exposure of the moon is perfect, and I like how it is only 94% full. It creates a more interesting shot as the bottom edge of the moon fades away. The inclusion of the tree branches balances out the composition and ties the moon back together with the earth.

Ryan

Hi Jusni,
I just can say wooooww! You know I tried to catch the moon few days ago with my tele but the result was not suitable to a post in here. You bring excellent details and the inclusion of the blurred leaves in the foreground was a clever choice to brake the blue baclground. Great work indeed!

hi Jusni,
This is a fantastic shot! its very difficult for me to capture the moon this clear although i know i have to use at 1/500 speed to get the details on the moon otherwise its all over exposed for the surface of the moon to be seen clearly. This is really good shot. congrats!

Great shot of the Waxing Gibbous. Just wondering if it was possible for you to have the shot without the leaves of the rain tree in the frame. I also have shot the moon exactly 10 days after you, at a location little higher up Asia (India) and also on a Full Moon, minutes after rise. The only difference is its a Night Shot.
I invite you to see the same and offer your valuable comments & critiques.
